Aussie Farmers expands online supermarket

General StoreAussie Farmers Direct has expanded its online-only supermarket, The General Store, to NSW ahead of a national rollout.

The NSW launch of The General Store is the next stage of a planned national rollout, following its debut in Victoria.

“We’ve been thrilled with the response to The General Store in Victoria,” said Keith Louie, CEO, Aussie Farmers Direct.

“The big supermarkets will charge you up to $18 on delivery fees and make you spend up to $50 before they’ll take your business,” he said.

“But at The General Store, there’s no minimum spend and delivery is free for all orders over $25. It is no surprise customers are moving across.

“We also have more than a hundred bulk value lines that offer fantastic savings over conventional pack sizes.”

Louie said the combined offers gave Australian food and grocery manufacturers an alternative path to market that bypassed Coles and Woolworths, ‘giving prominence to Australian-grown and Australian-made products’.

“With Aussie Farmers Direct and The General Store becoming the third pillar in the online grocery market, local grocery manufacturers are no longer in the grip of an online supermarket duopoly.”

“Sadly, many packaged groceries are no longer made in Australia from Australian ingredients, but they are necessities we all need to buy.”
