Brownes Dairy goes national with prebiotic yoghurt for kids

WA dairy company Brownes Dairy is bringing its latest product innovation to a national audience for the first time through its partnership with Woolworths.

The 133-year-old company has just launched Wiggles Yogurt pouches, the only yoghurt pouch for kids in Australia that contains both prebiotics and probiotics.

“We’ve always had an appetite to share our products with the rest of Australia, and growing Brownes Dairy’s presence outside of WA has been a long-term ambition,” said Brownes Dairy spokesperson Nicole Ohm.

“We all know about probiotics, the live cultures that aid in digestive health, but many people are unaware of the importance and even the existence of prebiotics. Think of prebiotics as food for your probiotic – it helps the good bacteria grow, giving our yoghurt pouches an extra boost for kids,” said Ohm.

Brownes Dairy was recently named one of Australia’s most innovative companies at the Australian Financial Review’s annual BOSS awards, and was the only dairy company to make the list.

“At Brownes Dairy, we’re always looking to innovate to create the most nutritious and tasty products for our little ones and being the first in Australia to create yoghurt pouches for kids with both prebiotics and probiotics solidifies our recent honour of being named one of AFR Boss’
Most Innovative Companies,” said Ohm.

Brownes Dairy pouches contains a prebiotic that is an extracted fibre from the chicory root plant. The Wiggles product is all-natural, non-GMO, free of sugar, artificial colours or flavours and is preservative- and lactose-free.

The pouches are also available for recycling via the organisation REDcycle. Consumers can drop the used pouches at recycling bins at Coles and Woolworths.
