After several recent acquisitions, the Calabria family has relaunched its wine business, adding a new distribution wing Vintners & Co Merchants to manage a portfolio of brands that has grown to 283 SKUs.
Billed as a “new era” for the Griffith-based family winery business, the new Calabria Family Wine Group follows the company’s purchase of the McWilliam’s Wines brand, Hanwood Winery, Deakin Estate, and La La Land Wines. The company is now among Australia’s largest family-owned wine groups.
Along with its own labels, Vintners will represent the group’s growing portfolio of international brands, including Italy’s Canti and Librandi, Portuguese port house Dow’s, Argentinian winery Dona Paula, and Champagne Deutz. The combined range is double that of 10 months ago.
“Calabria Family Wines has rapidly expanded from a single producer-owned and operated wine company to a wine group housing some of Australia’s best-loved wine brands and a selection of diverse international wine distribution partnerships,” says sales and marketing director Andrew Calabria.
“The creation of the group is a direct response to this growth and our mission to showcase each of these brands in the best way possible.
“Our offering in the international wine space provides us with more scope to work with a broad range of bespoke and boutique wine cellars, as well as the on-premise channel,” he added.
“We’ve been incredibly selective in these distribution partnerships, with most representing generations of family heritage behind the wines, which we feel connects strongly to our own family-owned values.”
To support the growth, Calabria Family Wine Group has added seven new staff to its sales team – mainly from McWilliam’s Wines.
Scott McWilliam has joined the group as a global brand ambassador.
