Australian health and wellness company Care A2+ will deliver up to 4.8 million tins of infant formula to the US following the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) approval.
The green light follows approval for another Australian makers Bubs and applications by Bellamy’s Organic, and Nature One Dairy.
The brand’s formulas use Australian A2 cow’s milk with added Lactoferrin. Every tin has a QR code that provides information on farm location, weather conditions, formula batch production, nutritional composition and information on Australian A2 cow.
Director of Care A2+, Kerry Hyland, said this was a significant milestone for the company and the company was “proud” to be playing a part in addressing the formula shortage.
“Our Australian farmers and manufacturers are delighted to be providing a premium product to support millions of American families. We understand the struggles US parents and caregivers are facing with the formula shortage and we are dedicated to providing health and nourishment for children.”
The company’s first order accounts for more than 250,000 tins of infant formula and will likely be shipped out in the first week of August.
It will be available across 20,000 retail locations including CVS and Rite Aid, Whole Foods Market, Kroger, HCA Healthcare, The Vitamin Shoppe and Peapod Online Grocer.
