Collins Foods, the KFC and Taco Bell franchisee, intends to expand its presence following the opening of its new KFC flagship store in Brisbane’s Queen St Mall.

The store is the company’s 305th location.

“Our 350th restaurant is an important milestone for Collins Foods, representing our growing scale and operational excellence over more than five decades,” said Drew O’Malley, Collins Foods’ MD.

According to Collins Foods, the new KFC store has environmentally friendly, locally sourced components, including recycled glass benchtops and brick slips, as well as water and energy-saving features. It also features furnishings, finishes, booth seating, and a mural created by local Brisbane artists MCRT Studio.

“Our first flagship KFC restaurant aligns with our shift towards more sustainable operations where we are targeting a 25 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and increasing our rates of waste diversion from landfill by 25 per cent by 2026,” added O’Malley.

He says the Queen ST Mall store offers more “dine-in options for customers” and has booth seating with wireless charging stations integrated into the tabletops. Digital and delivery channels are also increased.

Additionally, he says Collins Foods plans to open up to 12 new domestic restaurants this year, citing Australia as one of KFC’s fastest-growing markets. Meanwhile, Taco Bell plans to open four new locations in Queensland, Victoria, and Western Australia.

The brand also strengthens its footprint in Europe with the increased count of 130 net new restaurants in the Netherlands over the next 10 years.
