Nestle Professional has partnered with 7-Eleven to develop a recyclable cup for its Hot Chockee beverage.
All elements of the new cup – including the label and foil seal – are now accepted through mixed kerbside recycling, saving up to 95 tonnes of waste from landfills each year.
“We are incredibly proud to continue our partnership with Nestle Professional and invest in innovative packaging solutions,” said Fiona Baxter, head of sustainability at 7-Eleven.
The collaboration is part of the company’s recent $2.5 million investment in its Smithtown factory in NSW to boost local manufacturing and support collaborative produce developments.
Kristina Czepl, GM at Nestle Professional Oceania, said the investment would see the factory produce up to 4.7 million cups of Hot Chockee over the next year.
“The recent investment into the Smithtown factory has allowed us to collaborate on exciting new packaging solutions, like the Hot Chockee cup,” said Czepl.
“It is a great example of working with like-minded partners to pioneer alternative materials to facilitate better recycling.”
