New Zealand snack company Bluebird has brought back two of its most popular flavours – Lamb & Mint and Bacon – to celebrate its 70th birthday.

The returning flavours were decided by votes from the company’s Facebook community and will hit supermarket shelves for a limited time.

We had an overwhelming response to our social media call-out and know Kiwis will be happily snacking on these nostalgic limited-edition flavours,” said Natalie Johnson, senior brand manager at Bluebird.

The company was established in 1953 when founder Les Saussety began selling popcorn, and later potato chips, at the Western Spring Speedway in Auckland. After becoming a hit with customers, he expanded his range to include other flavours including Ready Salted, Salt & Vinegar, and Chicken.

“Bluebird’s 70th birthday is an opportunity to celebrate our Kiwi heritage, our farmers, our customers and of course, our fans, and we have a range of other exciting activities planned over the coming months,” said Johnson.

The Bluebird Originals Limited Edition ‘Bring Backs’ will be available at major grocery retailers nationwide from March 6 for an RRP of $2.80.
