Natural Pet Food Group (NPFG) has appointed Fonterra Brands New Zealand MD Brett Henshaw as its new CEO, effective March 1.

NPFG is the company behind the K9Natural, Feline Natural, and Meat Mates brands and has private equity investment backing.

Henshaw will succeed Neil Hinton, who is resigning as CEO and a board member, effective December 31.

Before Fonterra Brands, Henshaw held leadership positions at The Griffin’s Food Company, Colgate-Palmolive, and Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

CFO Mark Leitch, GM of operations and supply chain Mike Wilson, and GM of global markets and product marketing Tim Ballagh will work closely with the board to lead the company during the interim period between Hinton’s resignation and Henshaw’s onboarding.

“The opportunity to lead an innovative global team producing truly world-class natural products for our pets is extraordinary,” said Henshaw.

“NPFG is a notable contributor to the New Zealand economy and I am looking forward to working closely with the dedicated people at NPFG and further developing the significant relationships they have built with their suppliers and other stakeholders.”
