Confectionery brand Darrel Lea has partnered with the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) to launch an Easter chocolate egg for a cause.

The Darrel Lea OCRF Milk Chocolate Egg is made with creamy chocolate from sustainably sourced cocoa and is 100 per cent palm oil free. Moreover, the company will donate 20 cents to the OCRF for every egg sold.

“By gifting our OCRF Milk Chocolate Egg this Easter, customers not only experience the joy of sharing in our delicious chocolate but also play a vital role in supporting innovative life-saving research,” said Lili Despotovic, senior marketing manager at Darrel Lea.

Ovarian cancer is a highly dangerous reproductive cancer, with a survival rate of only 49 per cent. Unfortunately, the OCRF said the disease remains critically underfunded in the country.

The organisation said the additional funding will help support world-leading ovarian cancer researchers in the country. These researchers seek to improve survival rates by advancing breakthroughs in early detection, treatment, prevention, and recurrence strategies.

Robin Penty, CEO of OCRF, said Darrel Lea’s support would have a significant impact by raising awareness and elevating survival rates for women with ovarian cancer.

“As the leading independent funder of ovarian cancer research in Australia, OCRF currently supports 16 research projects nationwide,” said Penty. “Proceeds go directly to Australia’s best and most promising ovarian cancer research. We’re egg-cited!”

The Darrel Lea OCRF Milk Chocolate Egg 100g is available online and in-store at Coles Supermarkets nationwide for an RRP of $8.50.
