PakTech and Endeavour Group partner to expand recycling scheme

PakTek and Endeavour Group partner to expand recycling scheme

PakTech, a recyclable packaging solutions company, has partnered with Endeavour Group to expand its closed-loop recycling scheme.

By collecting recyclable PakTek clips in Dan Murphy’s outlets, the initiative aims to encourage the recovery, recycling, and reuse of PakTek handles, reducing carbon emissions and waste going into landfills.

The move comes as PakTech’s range of multipack beverage can-handles has been identified as recyclable through the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) ARL program.

Brandon Rogers, CEO at PakTech, said the partnership with Endeavour Group marks an important step for the company, as it can now fulfil its vision of championing sustainability in the country.

“Conscious consumerism is flourishing, and consumer pressure worldwide is forcing brands and retailers to rethink their approach to sustainable packaging,” continued Rogers. “Sustainability and the circular economy are no longer competitive differentiators; they’re an expectation.”

PakTech products are made with high-density polyethylene (HDPE), a recyclable material used to make various milk bottles, detergent bottles, and toys. Through a recovery, recycling, and remanufacturing process, the company and its partners aim to maximise the collection of used materials and repurpose them into new products.

All of the HDPE plastic used by PakTech comes from recycled material, closing the circular economy loop and avoiding the pitfalls of single-use plastics.

Sarah McElholum, circular economy sustainability manager at Endeavour Group, added that the company continuously works to improve the recyclability and reuse of its beverage packaging for our customers.

“Endeavour supports the development of a circular economy: It’s better for the planet, important to our community and customers,” said McElholum.

“We’re working to understand and improve how we manage waste and ensure our packaging is sourced sustainably, meets customer expectations of quality and durability, and can be recovered, recycled and used again.”

PakTech and its partners can manufacture up to 75 million recycled multipack beverage can-handles annually within Australia. Its local clients include Asahi, Billson’s, Hawkers Beer, and several craft beer, seltzer, and wine manufacturers.
