Yoghurt company Five:am is introducing paper-based tubs for its product range as part of its commitment to sustainability.

The paper-based tubs and lids are made from 90 per cent responsibly-sourced paperboard, with the remaining part made from a “thin layer of plastic” to preserve the yoghurt’s quality.

Five:am said its goal is to remove more than 100 tonnes of virgin plastic from its packaging each year.

CEO Chris Elliot said the company seeks to be one of the pioneers in minimising plastic use in its products.

“This is a monumental step forward for us and the industry,” he added.

Established in 2010, Five:am is a premium yoghurt brand owned by Barambah Organics with flavours including Vanilla Bean, Blueberry, Mango, and Greek Style.
