The Albanese Labor Government has announced $10 million in funding to support the continued implementation of Australia’s wine and cider cellar door growth strategy.

According to Wine Australia, the wine sector contributes $51.3 billion to the national economy and supports more than 200,000 jobs across winemaking, grape growing and tourism.

Since taking office, the government has invested more than $80 million in the grape and wine sector. Earlier this year, it committed $30 million to extend the Wine Tourism and Cellar Door Grants program for a further three years. The first $10 million round in this new phase was released today.

Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Julie Collins MP said the sector connects viticulture, production and tourism.

“Last year, over 7 million tourists, both from Australia and overseas, visited wineries around the country,” she said. “These grants help winemakers and cellar doors make the most of these opportunities and add value to their businesses.”

A total of 204 businesses across Australia are participating in the latest funding round. Previous rounds supported improvements to premises, increased staffing and expanded visitor experiences. The seventh round continues to support wine and cider producers through tourism-driven activity in wine regions.
