Yili Group has appointed Alex Turnbull as the new CEO for its five New Zealand entities: Westland Milk Products, Oceania Dairy, Canary, EasiYo, and Pure Nutrition.

Starting February 16, Turnbull will report to Zhiqiang Li, the director of the Yili Oceania business division.

With over 30 years of leadership within the global dairy and food sectors, Turnbull’s career has spanned various facets of the industry, from ingredients and nutrition to consumer brands and foodservice.

Prior to this appointment, Turnbull was the CEO of Manuka Health, where he managed a business turnaround and enhanced the company’s profitability and operations.

His career also included senior roles at Fonterra, including MD for Latin America and several board positions.

“Alex brings with him more than three decades of senior leadership experience with a strong New Zealand focus across the global dairy and food sectors, spanning ingredients, consumer brands and foodservice,” said Li.

Last year, Yili Group’s NZ dairy companies projected strong growth through 2025.
