Melbourne-based coffee roaster St Ali has expanded its retail presence by launching its Italo Disco Espresso Concentrate nationwide at Coles supermarkets.
The national rollout follows the introduction of the brand’s core range of freshly roasted coffee beans into Coles stores in July 2024.
The expansion comes in response to changing consumer preferences for chilled coffee formats. According to internal data from the company’s South Melbourne cafe, cold coffee variants now comprise approximately 35 per cent of all beverage sales.
Lach Ward, CEO of St Ali, identified that the rise of cold coffee is the most significant shift in consumption patterns during the brand’s 21-year history.
Sales data indicate that innovative cold drinks, such as the Biscoff Fredo, have become the company’s top-selling signature products, surpassing traditional offerings like magics and black coffee.
The Italo Disco Espresso Concentrate is available across Australia in a 750ml pouch for an RRP of $22.
According to St Ali, the trend towards chilled beverages extends beyond independent specialty venues. Global statistics reveal that cold drinks account for approximately 60 per cent of total sales at major commercial coffee chains, including Starbucks.
Earlier this year, St Ali also expanded its summer range by introducing two new drinks and bringing back a larger-format cold brew.
