The Magnum Ice Cream Company’s Streets brand has expanded its Australian dessert portfolio with the introduction of Viennetta Salted Caramel.
The release marks the first new flavour variation for the layered ice cream brand in Australia in several years.
Originally introduced to the Australian market in the mid-1980s following its development in the UK, the product is characterised by its signature ripple structure and crisp, layered design.
The new iteration combines salted caramel and vanilla ice cream with crisp caramel layers, topped with caramel pieces.
“Viennetta has a special place in Australian memories, anchored in those moments when we get together at home with family and friends,” said Kalli Swaik, MD at Streets. “It’s always been the dessert you brought out when guests came over, and you wanted dinner to feel a little bit fancy.
“More than 40 years later, what has changed is how Australians are entertaining – we’re seeing more moments at home together, and a growing ask from consumers to create something that feels special without the effort,” said Swaik.
While salted caramel has already been established as one of the brand’s top-performing flavours globally, its Australian debut is intended to capture both consumer interest in nostalgic brands and contemporary flavour preferences.
The new flavour, with an RRP of $8, joins the existing Viennetta Vanilla lineup and is available at Coles and Metcash supermarkets across the country.
In April, Streets introduced Cremissimo, a local indulgent ice cream lineup.
