New Zealand’s whisky brand ThunderDonk has launched a Campfire Coffee flavour, blending Colombian coffee beans with aged single malt whisky.

ThunderDonk, crafted by Scapegrace Distilling, was released in New Zealand last year. Its previous flavours, Spiced Maple and Salted Caramel, have sold more than 5000 cases across New Zealand and Australia in the past year.

The new release pairs rich Colombian coffee beans, toasted coconut flakes, and aged New Zealand single malt whisky. It features tasting notes of espresso, toasted coconut flakes mixed with smooth, tropical sweetness.

“It’s a combination few would expect: Whisky and coffee, but that’s precisely the point,” said Mark Neal, MD at ThunderDonk.

“Campfire Coffee is built for those late nights swapping stories and stirring up banter around the fire. This is the evolution of the brand and offers a bold and smooth coffee-led flavour, making it perfect for cocktails, as a chilled shot, or simply enjoyed neat.”

The new edition is available now nationwide and is bottled at 33 per cent ABV in 700ml, 200ml and 50ml formats.

The launch comes as flavoured whisky continues to gain popularity. It is the fastest-growing segment of the global whisky market, growing 50 per cent faster than traditional whisky.
