Independent brewer Good Drinks Australia (GDA) has reported a 157 per cent increase in sales across its brands in its first-quarter results.

The company owns and operates brands including Gage Roads Brew Co, Atomic Beer Project, Matso’s Broome Brewery and Hello Sunshine. It also distributes beers from other brands.

For its September quarter, the business achieved $22.3 million in sales with its own brands contributing $9.2 million, agency brands $6.5 million and venue businesses adding another $6.6 million.

Own-brand sales rose 11 per cent with draught beer sales up 31 per cent. Its venue business including Gage Road Freo (WA), Atomic Redfern (NSW) and Matso’s Queensland traded profitably in this quarter.

By region, WA outperformed all other Australian states registering $13 million in sales followed by Queensland at $4.3 million, Victoria and Tasmania at $2.3 million each and NSW and ACT at $1.6 million respectively.

With the peak holiday season approaching, the business expects to close strong first-half earnings provided hospitality and retail channels remain uninterrupted.

In May, GDA entered into a distribution agreement with global beverage company Molson Coors to exclusively sell its brands in Australia. The business was integrated during this quarter.
