Yowie appoints chairman

Yowie CartonYowie Group has brought in former Mars Australia executive Louis Carroll as a non-executive chair, ending a lengthy recruitment process that rounds out the ASX-listed company’s Board.

Carroll, who has worked in a range of roles for multinational FMCG companies and has founded several successful startups, has been hired to provide expertise on international markets, as the confectionery business looks to expand overseas.

“My focus will be to help the company achieve its value potential as well as realise opportunities through structuring and further internationalisation,” Carroll said.

Carroll will replace interim acting chairman, Trevor Allen, and will be based out of Sydney, where he can fulfill his other corporate responsibilities, including as a non-executive director for the National Home Doctor Service.

“It has taken longer than we would have anticipated finalising this recruitment process, but we are pleased that our determination to get it right has reaped positive benefit for the company,” Allen said.

Carroll has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in English from the University of London. Yowie is targeting net sales growth in FY18 of 55 – 70 per cent, after growing by 52 per cent in FY17 to $25.39 million.
