Sydney Fish Market gets ready for the 36-hour seafood marathon

Sydney Fish MarketSydney Fish Market has announced the annual 36-Hour Seafood Marathon this Christmas. More than 100,000 visitors are expected to visit Sydney Fish Market during the marathon.

“The 36-Hour Seafood Marathon is a long-standing tradition and one of our favourite events on the calendar. Visitors can expect a vibrant and exciting atmosphere throughout the entire event. It is a great opportunity for everyone to load up on Christmas supplies and pick up some last minute gifts from Sydney Seafood School for the seafood enthusiasts in your life,” said Sydney Fish Market general manager, Bryan Skepper.

The Christmas season is the busiest time for Sydney Fish Market as Aussies and holidaymakers buy tonnes of fresh produce over the two days prior to Christmas Day. They will extend trading hours to give ample time for Aussies during the holidays. The marathon kicks off at 5:00am on Saturday, 23 December, with retailers open all the way through to 5:00pm on Sunday, 24 December. Sydney Fish Market has six wet fish retailers, restaurants and cafés.

Visitors can also buy Christmas turkey from the butcher; source advice on the best wines and beer for pairing with their meal from the bottle shop or pick up fresh bread from the bakery. There are also cold meats, olives and cheeses available from the on-site deli and fresh fruits and vegetables from the greengrocer.

There are recipes Aussies can check out online by the Sydney Seafood School. Santa will also have a special appearance on Saturday, 23 December from 11am – 1pm and on Sunday, 24 December from 10am – midday.
