TV chef, Ben Borsht, is singing the praises of the humble pea in a new campaign with Birds Eye aimed at steering Australians away from smashed avo in favour of smashed peas!
The former Masterchef Australia contestant gained a public following for his simple, home-style dishes. However, his disastrous fish and pea combo in the finale, prevented him from taking the title and resulted in a roasting on social media.
Borsht is wiping the slate clean and keen to make amends for his pea fail, as Australia’s first ‘pea ambassador’! He has developed a selection of bespoke brunch recipes to rival the popular avocado on toast trend.
“About three in four Aussie households have peas in the freezer but we just aren’t sure how to use them beyond bangers, mash and mushy peas. We’ll change that,” Borsht says.
Birds Eye snap freeze their peas within hours of picking to lock in nutrients and maximise their sweet flavour. The campaign also includes a nationwide social media search to find Australia’s favourite smashed peas on a cafe menu.
