Nestlé launches snack bar in recyclable paper wrapper

FMCG giant Nestlé has released a new snack bar, titled YES!, that’s packaged in recyclable paper.

The company has for the first time created a confectionery bar in paper using a high-speed flow wrap technology. This type of fast production is usually used with plastic films and lamination.

Nestlé said in a statement that this is part of its pledge to make all product packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025. The paper is from sustainable sources, certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and The Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification.

“Consumers are looking for more natural and sustainable options when they choose a snack, both in terms of ingredients and packaging. Our YES! bars are made with wholesome ingredients that celebrate and care for Nature’s diversity. We are now relaunching them carefully wrapped in paper, making the packaging easy to recycle and avoiding plastic waste,”
Patrice Bula, head of Strategic Business Units, Marketing and Sales at Nestlé, said.

YES! snack bars are made with fruit, vegetables and nuts and come in several flavours including Dark Chocolate, Sea Salt & Almond; Dark Chocolate, Banana & Pecan and Raspberry & Chia Seeds. The bars are suitable for vegetarians and are gluten-free, lactose free, high in fiber and have no added sugar.

YES! bars have been released in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, and the United Kingdom. The FMCG giant will expand in Europe and other countries in the future.
