FMCG brands among Aussie icons featured in Australia Post collectables campaign

Australia Post and Australia’s coin producer Royal Australian Mint, have embarked on a coin collectables venture featuring some of Australia’s iconic FMCG brands.

The Great Aussie Coin Hunt invites consumers of all ages to support their local Australia Post office with cash payments by collecting 26 different $1 coin designs which can be found in their change at the post offices.

The designs feature popular Australian symbols, food items and brands including the meat pie, lamington, Weet-Bix, Vegemite and Arnott’s Iced Vovo, with a different design for each letter of the alphabet.

“We want everyone to get involved in the Great Aussie Coin Hunt. Not only will it be really exciting to hunt for all the coins and build an amazing collection, but each and every coin opens up the opportunity for wonderful conversations about quintessential Australian life,” Australia Post executive general manager consumer and community, Nicole Sheffield said.

Vegemite senior marketing manager Matt Gray told Inside FMCG that the brand is proud to be featured in the Great Aussie Coin Hunt.

“Vegemite is made up from everything that makes Australia great, so it’s fitting that it has been included within this iconic reflection. We hope that the coin hunt brings out the happy little Vegemite in every Australian as they search for the Vegemite coin,” he said.

In a similar move to Australian supermarkets, Australia Post is also offering colourful presentation folders for the collectors items. There are 3600 participating post offices taking part and hundreds of thousands of each of the 26 designs to be released over the next four weeks.
