Hemp Foods Australia (HFA) has signed Masterchef winner Simon Toohey as its brand ambassador.

Launched in 1999, Hemp Foods Australia makes nutritional products from hemp for Aussies and aims to “make a positive difference to people, communities and the planet”.

Toohey is the host of a plant-based show called Freshly Picked, and according to HFA, he will work with the brand to spread the message about the benefits of hemp and instruct consumers on how to cook meals from hemp food products.

“Simon aligns perfectly with the values of Hemp Foods Australia given his passion for plant-based, healthy cooking and his dedication to sustainable practices,” said Felipe Favaro, GM at Hemp Foods Australia.

Like HFA, Toohey says his goal is to change the way people eat as well as taking care of the planet. He noted that hemp has many benefits but these are “under the radar” in Australia.

“Hemp is really an untouched product in Australia – not by farmers but by consumers,” said Toohey.

“It is beneficial for your health, has amazing levels of protein, is fantastic as a material in the building industry and my personal favourite, one of the best crops to help tackle climate change. That is why I’m so proud to be joining the brilliant team at Hemp Foods Australia as their ambassador.”
