Breakfast brand Kellogg’s will provide a makeover to a purpose-built, rain-proof pantry called Pantry for the People in the Sydney suburb of Botany.

Founded in 2020 by local Rachael Smith, the pantry has been operating for the past two years helping people experiencing food insecurity in the community. It stocks food staples donated by businesses and individuals alike.

“Our pantry has been truly loved and given hope to so many people in our community, but after two years in the weather, it is really starting to look tired. So refreshing it would mean the world,” said Smith.

Anthony Holme, MD at Kellogg’s Australia, said the brand is committed to keeping the pantry stocked on a regular basis.

“Since 2013, Kellogg’s has donated over 45 million serves of food to families in need, so we’re proud to support this local legend via the makeover and an ongoing commitment of food donations to the pantry.”

According to a Foodbank Hunger report, one in six Australian adults have gone hungry in the past year while 47 per cent of people in NSW have sought food relief.
