Sierra Antiguo launches its blue agave tequila range in Australia

Sierra Antiguo launches its range of premium tequila in Australia

Mexican distillery Sierra Antiguo has launched its range of premium 100-per-cent Agave tequila, with “versatile and complex flavours” it promises will elevate any freshly mixed cocktail.

The range includes Sierra Antiguo Plata, with a fresh smell, fruity sweetness, citrus and clear agave notes rounded off by a soft taste; and Sierra Antiguo Añejo, an aromatic, full-bodied drink with a warm, deep golden colour, with a flavour bouquet of vanilla, oranges, cloves, and pepper with a fruity finish.

Made by a family-run distillery in Destilerías Sierra Unidas in the highlands of Guadalajara, the locale’s sunny, low-rainfall climate means that the agaves grown for Sierra Antiguo are free of artificial fertilisers and industrial irrigation.

The tequila is distilled using traditional methods “passed down from generations” of master distillers, made from agaves harvested exclusively by the Jimadores by hand into copper pot stills.

“Many Australians have been fans of Sierra Silver Tequila for a long time, and now we’re upping the game with a more premium offering,” said Mario Kappes, global advocacy and education manager at Sierra Tequila.

“We believe that the better the ingredients, the greater the indulgence – this range brings just that.”

Sierra Antiguo is available for an RRP of $82 from independent retailers and from 70 of Dan Murphy’s stores from July.
