New Zealand-based company EatKinda – known for its cauliflower ice cream – is accelerating its expansion into the United States as it scales operations globally.

Founded in 2023, EatKinda has developed a novel approach to frozen desserts by upcycling cosmetically imperfect cauliflowers into plant-based ice cream. It also packages its product in 100 per cent home-compostable tubs.

“This isn’t just a personal milestone, it’s a chance to showcase the incredible innovation coming out of Aotearoa, and what’s possible when you build with purpose from the ground up,” said Co-founder and CEO Mrinali Kumar.

EatKinda said that its dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free and nut-free formulation has resonated with consumers seeking inclusive, sustainable treats.

The company is now paring back domestic operations to focus on scaling in the US, backed by investors including Massey Ventures, WNT Ventures and Beder Bite Ventures.

Since its launch, EatKinda has already diverted more than 2900 kilograms of cauliflower from landfill and prevented the use of over 45,000 plastic tubs.
