Nestle’s plant-based alternative to foie gras makes festive return

Nestle’s plant-based business Garden Gourmet is relaunching foie gras alternative Voie Gras for a limited time.

Voie Gras is made from miso paste and sea salt with a soy base and provides an authentic texture, flavour and appearance said to complement hot or cold and sweet or savoury dishes.

The product, which comes in a glass jar, is being developed and produced at Nestle’s R&D centre in Singen, Germany and became a hit during a seasonal launch in Spain and Switzerland last year.

Nestle said it is gearing up for a second seasonal launch this year, thanks to the flexibility of its R&D production lines which enables the company to produce the product at a larger scale.

“Following a successful pilot launch last holiday season, we are excited to bring back Voie Gras,” said Torsten Pohl, global head of R&D for Nestle’s food category.

“Our teams worked hard to improve the recipe, taste, and shelf-life, bringing us even closer to animal-based foie gras.”
