Pet food company Scratch has introduced a raw and frozen dog food product that aims to help owners provide better nutrition without the challenges of traditional raw feeding.
Prepared in the company’s state-of-the-art facility in Melbourne, the dog food is prepared with a range of meat, organs, and veggies that are diced, blanched, and frozen before being packed for distribution.
Mike Halligan, co-founder of Scratch, said the company differentiates itself by sourcing human-grade meat and organs, addressing a common practice where raw dog foods use “pet grade” ingredients.
“One thing that people are struck by is how it looks like real food,” he continued. “Scratch Raw is literally normal food, with all the colours of the rainbow, just as it should be.”
The product features ingredients such as beef chuck muscle meat, heart, liver, spleen, salmon, and various vegetables, including kale, zucchini, and sweet potatoes.
“Our priority when creating Raw was to treat it the same way human food preparation is treated,” Halligan added.
“Bags get popped straight in the freezer and ship frozen, ensuring that bacteria doesn’t grow on the raw meat and that maximum nutrients are locked in.”
Scratch Raw is available for order online in Melbourne and Sydney for an SRP of $157 for an 8.25kg bag.
