Birds of Isle is seeking to raise $450,000 through a crowdfunding campaign to grow in capital cities, starting with Brisbane.
Established just last year, the craft distillery is known for its rum based on native plants such as the Bunya nut.
The company has already secured listings in its hometown of the Northern Rivers at venues such as Pipit and Elements of Byron, as well as key locations in Sydney, including Nomad and Bennelong.
With the additional funding, Birds of Isle aims to scale its presence in bars, restaurants, and liquor stores across Queensland and NSW over the next year.
Co-founder Chanel Milani described the campaign as more than just an investment opportunity, but a chance to reshape the future of Australian spirits.
“Birds of Isle was founded to celebrate the bounty of Australia’s landscapes and reimagine what rum could be,” she continued.
“We’re proud to drive change in a male-dominated industry and hope to inspire others to dream big and push boundaries.”
In addition to scaling its retail presence, a portion of the funds will also be allocated to strengthening the brand’s direct-to-consumer reach through expert-led content and bartender-crafted recipes.
Expressions of interest for the crowdfunding campaign open on 18 March via Birchal.
