Canned water company Liquid Death is entering the energy drink category with Sparkling Energy, a low-caffeine, sugar-free range set to launch in the US early next year.

The range is available in four flavours: Tropical Terror, Scary Strawberry, Orange Horror, and Murder Mystery.

Each 355ml can contains 100mg of caffeine and is sweetened with stevia and allulose; it is also infused with vitamin B12 and vitamin C.

“We thought, ‘Let’s have a sane level of caffeine, that’s equal to a cup of coffee, because it seems like the category has gone a little caffeine-crazy,’” founder and CEO Mike Cessario told The Wall Street Journal.

Sparkling Energy is expected to retail for around US$3 per can. Further details on the product’s marketing campaign are expected closer to launch.
