UK potato crisp brand Tyrrells has been delisted from major Australian supermarket chains Coles, Woolworths, and IGA, with distribution now limited to select independent retailers.
Coles confirmed to SkyNews that it no longer stocks the products, while Woolworths has marked the range as “out of stock” online.
The sudden disappearance has frustrated consumers, with long-time fans expressing disappointment on social media.
“Gone from their shelves without warning or even clearance tags,” one Reddit user posted. “Didn’t even get a chance to stock up.”
Snackbrands Australia – which manages Tyrrells locally – said the decision was due to insufficient demand.
“We realise that there will always be true lovers of the brand out there; however, we need to balance the requirements of our consumers as well as our retail partners when making these tough decisions,” a spokesperson told SkyNews.
Tyrrells will remain available in select Harris Farm Markets stores. Customers can contact Snackbrands’ consumer care team for updates on availability.
Founded in the UK, Tyrrells expanded into the Australian and Asia-Pacific markets in 2016, establishing manufacturing operations in Victoria through an investment in Yarra Valley Snack Foods.
The products are widely sold in Southeast Asia.
