Snack brand Twisties has teamed up with honey producer Capilano to release a limited-edition product, Twisties Hot Chilli Honey.
Inspired by Capilano’s existing Hot Chilli Honey line, the new product combines the traditional structural crunch of the corn snack with a sweet-and-spicy flavour profile.
The product rollout will occur in two phases: Independent grocers across Australia will receive exclusive initial stock starting on June 29. Following this initial release, a broader commercial distribution is scheduled to expand into major national retail channels in August.
“Following the fan-favourite success of Twisties Spicy Ramen, it was clear Australians weren’t ready to dial down the heat,” said Michelle Sonnleitner at Twisties.
“Twisties Hot Chilli Honey brings together the perfect balance of sweetness and spice that reflects the adventurous spirit we’re seeing in both food culture and everyday connections.”
The partnership aims to capitalise on an expanding domestic market for ‘swicy’ food profiles, which blend heat and sweetness.
Skye Giles, Capilano’s SBM, said that the project allows the honey producer to transition its flavour profile from a traditional spread into the savoury snack category.
Consumer research data indicate that 37 per cent of Australians prefer hot-and-spicy food profiles, while 28 per cent specifically seek out sweet-and-spicy combinations.
To promote the product’s market launch, the partners have contracted singles-events company Merge Dating to host a joint promotional gathering at Zeta Bar in Sydney on July 1.
In April, Twisties introduced a new limited-edition flavour, Tangy Pickle, catering to growing consumer demand for pickles.
