Coles’ Tinnies named best pale bitter at World Beer Awards

Coles’ Tinnies has bagged the award for World’s Best Pale Bitter 4.5% to 5.5% at the World Beer Awards in London.

The beer brand sold at Liquorland, First Choice Liquor Market and Vintage Cellars was also named Australia’s Best Session IPA, Pale Ale and Tropical XPA.

Chair of the World Beer Awards Adrian Tierney-Jones said in a statement that the winners in the World Beer Awards are examples of some of the best beers in the world, with over 3,500 beers from 56 countries taking part.

Coles acting chief executive of Liquor, Cathi Scarce, credited the win to the hard work of Kade Wilson and his team of brewers at Brick Lane. The company began making exclusive beer for Coles Liquor in 2018.

“To have this recognition as the world’s best beer in its class is further evidence that we’re getting it right by working with the best brewers to bring fantastic new products to our customers,” Scarce said.

“Over the past 12 months we’ve won almost 200 awards and medals for our exclusive wines, beers and spirits – and we will continue to focus on delighting our customers and offering them world class products and choice to ensure that our range is reflective of the changing customer landscape.”

Brick Lane brewer Kade Wilson said that the brewery was excited for Tinnies to be hailed as the World’s Best Pale Bitter.

“It is such a privilege to brew each day at Brick Lane with our beautiful brewing equipment and to collaborate with Liquorland to make such exciting, high-quality beers,” he said.

“With Tinnies, Brick Lane worked side-by-side with our malt and hop partners, including a special trip to the annual Victorian Hop Harvest with the Liquorland team. We love that the attention to detail brought by both teams shines through in the final beer.”
