PepsiCo Australia is expanding its multipack snack range to eight units per pack, while also introducing recyclable cardboard packaging across key brands.

The expanded multipack format will roll out across Smith’s, Parker’s, Twisties, Doritos, Grain Waves and Cheetos.

In addition, the new packaging is designed to be pantry-friendly and fully recyclable, replacing soft plastic with cardboard boxes.

Each pack features creative reuse suggestions printed on the back, such as turning the box into an “Astronaut Helmet” or a “Shed Stash”, encouraging families to either repurpose the packaging or recycle it via kerbside collection.

In addition to the new format, PepsiCo estimates the switch to cardboard will remove 35 tonnes of soft plastic from the Australian waste stream each year.

Alexia Horley, GM, of Australia foods at PepsiCo, said the shift addresses the growing demand for convenience and sustainability.

“We are giving Aussies more snacks for more occasions while also meeting shopper’s desire for less soft plastic,” he added.

The eight-pack multipacks will be available through Coles and independent retailers at an RRP of $6, or two packs for $9.
