Aussie frozen berry brand launches

berries, strawberry, blueberryA Melbourne-based couple have launched Australia’s first commercial frozen berry brand, Matilda’s Frozen Fruit.

Wine and cider producers, Matt and Ruth Gallace, are the co-founders behind Matilda’s and also produce cider brand, Rebello.

Inside FMCG understands Matilda’s will initially produce frozen strawberries, grown on a farm on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, however, there are plans to later expand into frozen mixed berries.

The launch of Matilda’s comes after 26 people fell ill with hepatitis A after eating the now recalled Nanna’s frozen berries products imported from China in February and earlier this month.
