Four Australian shopper marketing campaigns have been awarded top honours at the Popai Global Marketing at Retail Awards.

The Australian winners which included Active Display Group, Creative Instore Solutions, and TRO, competed against more than 80 finalists from 11 countries to take out the accolades.

Active Display Group scooped two awards, for its innovative Colorbond Steel modular POS displays, and its Frozen blower and standee for the Walt Disney Company, taking instore theatre to new levels of ‘cool,’ with Princess Elsa blowing snow around windows, aisles, and checkouts.

Creative Instore Solutions (CIS) received a gong for its Mexican Fiesta for PepsiCo’s Doritos brand, aimed at the shopper occasion of ‘Nacho Night,’ combining fresh foods with Doritos products, in a festive, one stop Mexican shop.

“We are extremely pleased to be recognised as a global leader in innovation and design, it is an honour our entire international team should be extremely proud of,” Deane Hubball, Group CEO, CIS, said.

“We are thrilled that our success for our client has been recognised within the industry’s most prestigious award events and we hope to have the opportunity to achieve even more through 2015 and beyond,” Hubball said

TRO impressed with its Telstra interactive windows, using augmented reality technology to overlay characters into the live street scene among the crowds, and feed the video into the window display.

Lee McClymont, GM of Popai Australia and New Zealand, said it was indicative of Australia’s innovation in the shopper marketing space, to achieve such global recognition.

“Australia has been punching above its weight on the shopper marketing world stage, for some time now. For companies from our region to take out four of the 17 global awards categories this year, demonstrates our thought leadership, innovation, and excellence in an environment where shoppers are more discerning than ever,” said McClymont.

The fifth Popai Global Marketing at Retail Awards contest provides a global platform to showcase the design and manufacturing talents of both producers and suppliers across the world and recognises excellence within the industry.

The global awards programme was conducted online and was judged by representatives from leading brands, retailers, and producers across the world.

To qualify for entry into the 2015 Global Marketing at Retail Awards Contest entrants were required to have won Display of the Year or Gold awards from the 2014 Awards Contest run by Popai chapters in the 11competing countries including Australia and New Zealand, Benelux, France, Italy, North America, and the UK and Ireland.
