Always to remove female symbol from packaging to promote transgender inclusion

Always has announced it will ditch the Venus symbol from its packaging to promote inclusivity of its transgender and nonbinary customers. Th move is in response to transgender activists and allies who have urged Procter & Gamble (P&G) to change the symbol of femininity as not all people who menstruate are women and that not all women menstruate.

FMCG companies and governments have taken action in promoting inclusivity as transgender equality activism gains momentum worldwide.

“For over 35 years Always has championed girls and women, and we will continue to do so. We’re also committed to diversity & inclusion and are on a continual journey to understand the needs of all of our consumers,” P&G said Tuesday in a statement.

There was no announcement from P&G on when the new design will roll out in the market.

“We routinely assess our products, packaging and designs, taking into account consumer feedback, to ensure we are meeting the needs of everyone who uses our products,” P&G said.
