Vow co-founder George Peppou has stepped down as CEO of the Australian food technology firm to assume the role of executive director.
Peppou is leaving the role to manage a separate startup spun out of Vow and will be succeeded by Alex Andrews, who will assume the leadership role after serving as the company’s chief of staff in January.
Peppou remains a member of Vow’s board of directors to assist with its updated focus, which includes establishing contract manufacturing services for external cellular agriculture firms.
Before her tenure at Vow, Andrews co-founded and operated as COO of the financial services company Verve Super.
The executive transition accompanies a broader structural shift within the organisation, which was established in 2019 by Peppou and Tim Noakesmith.
Under the revised framework, the business has modified its production strategy, transferring from internal food manufacturing to a co-manufacturing model with external partners who process the cultured animal cells into consumer food products.
The new entity intends to apply the firm’s cellular agriculture and cell-culturing mechanisms to industrial sectors outside the food market, such as cosmetics, leather production, and life sciences.
Vow previously secured regulatory clearances to sell its cultured Japanese quail product line, marketed under the Forged brand, in Singapore in 2024 and in Australia and New Zealand in the middle of last year.
