Caredent introduces eco-friendly oral care range

As FMCG companies grapple to find sustainable alternatives to packaging and products, some categories are making more headway than others. The oral health industry has lagged behind in terms of sustainable innovation but change is on the horizon.

Caredent, an Australian oral care company Caredent has introduced its first eco-friendly products and packaging as part of a new range.

“The entire team is very passionate about driving eco-improvement within the oral health industry as Australia joins the anti-disposable movement. This is just the beginning of a major shift we hope to see in dentistry,”
Dr. Raymond Shroot, Caredent CEO and founder, said.

“It’s definitely time the sector became more ‘black and white’ in terms of environmental impact. In line with this, we have undertaken a major rebrand towards a monochrome palette to match this intention.”

Caredent’s first plastic free Floss In A Box launched in August featuring PerioTape, Australia’s first PTFE tape and nylon dental floss.

Caredent also plans to launch a Biobrush range of cornstarch compostable and biodegradable toothbrushes.

“Generally speaking the major oral care companies are lagging behind and its left to the smaller companies like Caredent to lead the way,” Imran Khan, sales manager at Caredent told Inside FMCG.

“The products are becoming more widely available but we still need the major retailers to be bold and adopt the products and ditch the big brands that will be slow to change.”

Caredent’s current products are available at major supermarkets, pharmacies and online with new products expected on shelves in March .
