MorningStar Farms rolls out plant-based meat alternatives in Australia

US plant-based meat brand MorningStar Farms is bringing its range to Australia while the COVID-19 outbreak sees consumers spend more time cooking at home.

The meat-free range can be cooked from frozen, to make preparation simple for consumers.

“As Aussies spend more time at home, we found through our research, 1 in 10 people are taking this opportunity to explore different diets with over a third (38%) cooking up healthier meals. We want to inspire Aussies looking to eat a little healthier to un-meat their midweek. Our range of plant-based food easily swaps out the meat in popular midweek dinners to create a delicious tasting meal,” MorningStar Farms marketing manager, Dan Bitti said.

The company, which has been producing meat-free options in the US for over 40 years, found that Australian consumers are aiming to reduce their meat intake two to three times a week.

The research showed that almost half (49 per cent) of consumers are introducing the healthier meals at home in the next 12 months.

The survey also found that 85 per cent would be motivated to cook meat-free meals if they are delicious while 65 per cent would cook meat-free meals if they are quick and easy to make in the kitchen.

Morningstar Farms is available now in Coles and independent supermarkets.
