Kmart has launched a new store in Westfield Carindale in response to strong customer demand in the area.

The store, which sports the chain’s colourful new look, has employed more than 215 new staff recruited for the venue, along with eight transfers from other Kmart locations.

It is located above the David Jones department store in the centre.

“The feedback from our customers about the opening has been overwhelmingly positive, further demonstrating that we’re delivering a retail experience that truly reflects the interests and needs of the community,” said Scentre Group regional manager centre experience Queensland, Richard Heinz.

Kmart’s GM of stores, Chris Renshaw, says the company has been “blown away”by the support and feedback from the local community.

Kmart’s stablemates at Westfield Carindale include Aldi, Target, Coles, Myer and Woolworths, alongside roughly 400 speciality stores.
