Corona introduces its first non-alcoholic beer, infused with Vitamin D

Global beer brand Corona has debuted its first-of-its-kind non-alcoholic beer in Canada.

The Corona Sunbrew 0.0% contains 30 per-cent of the daily value of vitamin D in a 330ml serving. This Sunbrew is alcohol-free, contains 60 calories per bottle and Corona hopes consumers can enjoy ‘Sunshine, Anytime’.

According to IWSR, the global no/low alcohol category market is projected to grow by 31 per cent by 2024.

With Corona Sunbrew 0.0%, consumers now have a chance to opt for a non-alcoholic beer that looks and tastes like the real thing, says  Brad Weaver, global VP of innovation research & development at ABInBev.

“After numerous and rigorous trials, Corona Sunbrew 0.0% proudly showcases our ability to find solutions, gaps, and opportunities for growth as a brand. It’s been a tough idea to formulate and implement for the brand as Vitamin D is sensitive to oxygen and light and easily soluble in water.

“Thanks to our ongoing investment in innovation and research and development, our team was able to create the only non-alcoholic beer with vitamin D, providing a unique opportunity in the market,” he said.

In its first leg of marketing, the brand will launch the product in Canada, where sunlight is sparse or limited for most months of the year. The non-alcoholic range will expand to the UK late this year, followed by key markets in the rest of Europe, Asia and South America.

The beer behemoth has been collaborating with creative agency David Miami since Sunbrew’s inception two years ago.

Pancho Cassis, global chief creative officer at David, notes that each detail of the project was of special value to the agency. “From the product ideation to the final campaign, it’s not every day that we have the chance to present a product idea and have an innovative client like Corona buy, develop and take it to the next level.”

A creative campaign was shot by David Miami under the direction of Juan Cabral on the beaches of Costa Rica, focused on promoting the spirit of outdoor life, the warmth of the sunshine and a bottle of Corona Sunbrew 0.0%.
