‘Rescued’ berries repurposed in limited-edition coconut yogurt

Pic’s Peanut Butter and Cathedral Cove Naturals have partnered to launch a limited-edition coconut yogurt with rescued berries.

The berries were originally bought by Pic’s to make its Boysenberry Jelly product. However, when the supplier closed up its business, Pic’s was left with around 405kgs of fruit in storage. Rather than waste the berries, the Pic’s team got together with Cathedral Cove to find another use for them.

“We were sad to see our Boysenberry Jelly go, and it wasn’t in our nature to dump the leftover berries so we were jazzed Cathedral Cove has helped us find a use for them that will delight customers,” said Pic’s boss, AKA chief peanut butter maker, Pic Picot.

The limited-edition yogurt features coconut milk, probiotics, Pic’s Boysenberry Jelly and boysenberries.

Like Pic’s Peanut Butter, Cathedral Cove Naturals was founded with the mission of eating better and connecting with the natural environment. Aaron Montier, Cathedral Cove Naturals product developer, said the collaboration created “a creamy, fruity and plant-based boysenberry yoghurt”.

“I’m a Pic’s fanatic myself and I’ve always loved their passion for whole foods. They simply squash some quality nuts, throw in a bit of salt and there you go,” said Montier.

“No added weird stuff. We feel the same at Cathedral Cove Naturals about just using coconut, cultures, and real fruit.”

Cathedral Cove Naturals Coconut Yoghurt with Pic’s Boysenberry Jelly is available at supermarkets nationwide with an RRP of $9 for a 500g container.
