Who Gives A Crap has expanded its product range with the launch of Sponge Scourers, a plant-based kitchen cleaning product made from natural loofah, wood pulp and water-based ink.
Available in two patterned designs, the sponge scourers feature motivational notes for household cleaning tasks.
The Sponge Scourers are designed to be rinsed and air-dried after use and can be refreshed in a dishwasher, microwave or by boiling. The company recommends replacing them every four weeks or as required.
According to research commissioned by the company, nearly half (49 per cent) of Australians do not consider the materials used in kitchen sponges when making a purchase.
Who Gives A Crap, founded in 2012, has gradually expanded into other household essentials, including recycled garbage, compost and dog waste bags.
“Sustainability has never been an afterthought for us – it’s been built into everything we do,” said Sapphire Jones, head of sustainability at Who Gives A Crap.
“We started with toilet paper made from recycled paper and bamboo to help avoid the one million trees being cut down every day to make traditional toilet paper. But the kitchen still offers a lot of space for innovation.”
The products are available with an RRP of $14 for each pack containing four sponge scourers measuring 11cm by 7cm by 1.5cm. The range can be found on the company’s website.
