Mars Wrigley has flipped its recruitment process and has given potential employees an option to bring their loved ones – including their pets – into the interview process.
According to the company, the aim of the extra, albeit unusual, hiring step is to highlight that ‘family values’ are important in every sense, and not just with a “traditional family”.
Candidates will be able to bring not just their direct relatives, but also their extended family, life partners, friends, and even pets.
The ‘Loved One Interview’ will be rolled out virtually – where candidates will be asked whether they or their loved ones have any questions for the company to help support the flexibility they need to enjoy what is important to them.
The company said the information provided will not impact the outcome of an application but is designed to ensure candidates feel confident that Mars Wrigley is the right fit for them and their loved ones.
Furthermore, questions like how the values of the company will give candidates the flexibility to care for their loved one or pet when they are sick, or if parents will be home for school pick-up time are encouraged.
Mars Wrigley’s P&O director Katy Halliwell said: “As a family-owned business, Mars Wrigley celebrates bringing your whole authentic self to work.”
