Australian baby formula startup Sprout Organic’s plant-based infant formula will be stocked in 500 Chemist Warehouse stores across the country.
Selasi Berdie, founder and CEO of Sprout Organic, said the distribution deal “marks a great day for us”.
“Our mission has always been to provide an organic, intolerance-friendly formula to as many Australian families as possible. This brings us one step closer to that mission with national ranging at Chemist Warehouse.”
The company’s infant formulas are certified organic and made with ingredients such as rice, peas and coconut. It is also free from allergens such as dairy, soy, eggs, wheat, fish and peanuts.
Nana Yaa Donkor, a Chemist Warehouse pharmacist and manager, said lots of mums come into the store seeking recommendations of what formulas to use, “and we’ve definitely noticed an increase in the need for allergy-friendly formulas”.
In May, the company partnered with online marketplace Amazon to sell its products amidst an infant formula crisis in the US.
