Grains Australia has appointed Richard Simonaitis as its new CEO, who will take up the role on November 1.
Prior to his appointment, Simonaitis was the CEO of the Australian Export Grains Innovation (AEGIC), a non-profit WA State Government organisation, and the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) to increase the value of the sector.
During his six-year tenure with the organisation, Simonaitis has overseen the market diversification, and product innovation of the organisation and introduced other value-adding opportunities.
His most recent accomplishments in the organisation include exploring wheat supply chains for cake and biscuit manufacturing, supporting the commercialisation of new oat rice and noodle products, and business insights into the future outlook for Australian grains.
In addition, the organisation secured a $24 million investment earlier this year, over four years which will allow it to build and maintain new trade opportunities.
“Richard has created an exceptional team and culture at AEGIC, which has delivered a strong national brand and reputation,” said Alannah MacTiernan, WA Agriculture and Food Minister.
MacTiernan added that Simonaitis would be a great asset to Grains for his intimate knowledge of the grains industry in WA.
“I wish him well in his new role and look forward to appointing a new CEO for AEGIC,” she concluded.
