To support a more circular economy Visy has rolled out a new heavy-weight shopping bag that is recyclable through kerbside bins.
Manufactured at the company’s plant in Reservoir, Melbourne, the bags are described as made of thicker paper using recycled content and carry a Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, which guarantees the fibre used is responsibly sourced.
Visy GM for strategic retail Fiona Macleod, said the new paper bags are for shoppers who care about their environmental impact.
“By using Australian paper and manufacturing the paper bags locally, we’re supporting local jobs in Australia and reducing our reliance on single-use plastic,” said Macleod.
“Once you’re done with your paper shopping bags, throw them in the recycle bin and we’ll turn them into new products.
Visy’s new recyclable paper bags are available in retail stores nationwide.
