Australian seasoning brand enters South Korea

Australian seasoning brand Mingle is expanding its global footprint by launching in the South Korean market.

Four Mingle products, including its Everything Bagel Seasoning, have been introduced at three local retailers, one of which is Market Kurly.

The company noted it is on track to sell more than 60,000 units of Everything Bagel Seasoning in South Korea by the end of the year. The demand for this product has surged in Australia thanks to TikTok creator Logan Moffat’s viral cucumber salad video.

“We thought it was the end of the craziness but really it was just getting started,” Mingle founder Jordyn Evans said on its Instagram account.

In July, Trader Joe’s Everything But The Bagel Seasoning was banned in South Korea because it contained poppy seeds, which are outlawed in South Korea because of their link with opium, according to Evans.

“We decided to leave out poppy seeds to avoid complications with exports, so because of this and a bit of luck, which you always need in small business we are now selling thousands of these products every day in a place we have never been to,” she added.

Mingle is currently available at more than 2000 stores across Australia.
