Metcash has completed its acquisition of Superior Foods, expanding its presence in the foodservice and distribution sector.

Superior Foods will be integrated into Metcash’s expanded “away from home” division under a new banner: Food Service and Convenience.

Craig Phillips, CEO of Superior Food Services, said the merger unites Superior, Campbells, C Store, and Independent Grocers under one entity.

“This consolidation adds geographical coverage, range expansion opportunities, and significantly enhances our customer service capabilities,” said Phillips.

“Our goal is to not only strengthen our relationships with suppliers but also to offer a one-stop solution unique to our industry.”

The new business unit will serve multiple customer segments, including quick service restaurants (QSR), corporate food service clients, independent operators, petrol and convenience outlets, and smaller distributors.

Operationally, partners will continue to interact with Metcash through existing payment and order platforms with no disruptions to service.

Established in 1927, Metcash is a leading wholesaler across Australia and New Zealand. It supplies independent retailers in the food, liquor, and hardware sectors, including under the IGA, Cellarbrations, and Mitre 10 brands.
